Yes the title says it all. Its not often where a team out playes, dominates and leads against Manchester United for 88 minutes. More on that later…..

Needing a win to keep their slim hopes of European Qualification alive, Blackburn faced the daunting task of Manchester United, who were needing a win to maintain their position at the top of the Barclays Premiership.

Rovers started of the brighter of the two teams, with Roberts being taken out in the box, a penalty opportunity turned down. The first half was a razzdle dazzle performance by the boys in the blue and white. Bentley, Morten, Roque, Roberts, played like superstars, with the strings being pulled by Reid, Emerton and Vogels. The pressure finally paid of in the 25 th minute, with a quick throw in finding its way to Roque Santa Cruz, who netted (with his feet!!!!!!!!!!). Rovers 1-0. Manchester United were lucky to have 10 men on the field when Wayne Rooney lashed out minutes after a disallowed penalty claim. He should of recieved a yellow for diving, which would of meant the rash challenge would of been his second yellow.

1-0 at the break.

Sparky decided to keep the formation and line up, and the pressure continued. Rovers best chance to notch a second fell to Santa Cruz, who placed a shot wide of the goals. Brad Friedel was called into action several times, having to make save after save when Manchester decided to tune up their performance.

However, it just wasnt to be, when in the 88th minute, a Man U corner found its way to Tevez who continued his goal scoring spree for the Red Devils.

Player Ratings

Blackburn Rovers
Today id like to comment on the performance on the team. The lads copped a lot of criticsm after their shocking performance against Liverpool. They could of just folded again, but boy they almost destroyed Man Uniteds title ambitions. Dominating most of the game through some tough defending, by all 4 in the back, the boys in the middle had plenty of time on the ball. Lads up front hunted everything down. And Brad Friedel, do i really have to say anything.

Really dissapointing with that Tevez goal in the dying minutes. We really did deserve to win. It just wasnt to be. We can almost kiss goodbye to Europe now, but, their is still hope….
