Evening all, prior to the match against Wigan at the DW stadium on boxing day I thought I would have a little sit down and chat with our friend Worbo over on Vital Wigan.

And just because I felt like it, I thought I would share the answers with you – fancy that?!

Here is the interview in full….

*How do you feel the season has gone so far? Pleased?

Very pleased with the general direction, not too happy with our league position though we do have a game in hand and a win would see us up to 11th which would be where I`d have thought we would be, if that makes sense.

We have had some fantastic results, battering Chelsea, beating Aston Villa in the opening game and also doing your bestest mates Burnley in their own backyard, but these have been tainted by the horror show at Spurs, losing at home to Wolves and we were in total control against Birmingham a couple of weeks back only to turn in a shocking second half display.

So as you can see we are what you would call inconsistent.

*The reaction to Martinez seems to have been largely positive… are you personally pleased?

Roberto Martinez has come in and he`s trying to change the whole philosophy of the club from our playing style to how we recruit youngsters, it`ll take time but I feel we are on the right track.

He is a manager with a fantastic future ahead of him, he is extremely professional and a thinker of the game, we are attempting to play football not hoofball, We no longer just hit the ball into the corners hoping for the best, we try to play a patient possession game, doesn`t always work but when it does we look very good.

*So to answer your question, I am absolutely delighted.

What’s your feelings on Sam Allardyce, Rovers much maligned manager?

Never a big fan of the Sam Allardyce way but what he does is effective and his sides are usually hard to beat and guaranteed to give 100%.

*Any Rovers players that you feel could cause you a headache (obiviously not literally!) on Saturday?

Pedersen always plays well against us and he is a player that I admire, then we have the fact that you have two of our former stars in your side, Jason Roberts and Pascal Chimbonda, I am actually looking forward to seeing both play against us particularly JR who was a cult hero down here, I just hope that neither of them score.

*What do you feel can be done to help attract better attendances at clubs likes Wigan/Blackburn?

Well I know like us you have had lots of initiatives to get the people in through the turnstiles and sometimes it must be soul destroying for the clubs, but I know at the Latics we are on the right tracks, we have the largest under 16`s % of season ticket holders in the Prem and has the great man Brian Potter said, the children are our future.

The club work hard to encourage the young ones through the gates and that is the way, we have got to build tomorrows adult fans today.

Ticket prices are a big issue so for clubs like Latics, Rovers, Bolton etc it is important to keep the prices as low as possible, my season ticket cost me just £275 which I believe is a great deal, we have also had three bring a mate for a quid games which also helps get people in to the ground.

It`s a long hard slog but the clubs have got to show the supporters that it is a much better experience watching it live rather than on the TV, in the Pub or on the net.

*Any wishes for the New Year?

Four new players, two strikers, a midfield man and a defender, and for the Martinez way to click in every game between now and the end of the season.

*Who’s been the Wigan player of the season so far and why?

Charles N`Zogbia, he`s been fantastic and by far and away our most creative player. He looks dangerous every time he gets the ball, real quality and he plays like he cares.

A big thank you to Worbo over at Vital Latics, may I wish him and them luck in the upcoming game (obviously not enough to win or anything though!) and for the rest of the season…

Keep your eyes peeled for the return interview with myself over on the rival site!
