A Point on the Road for Rovers

Blackburn will count themselves dissapointed after missing several golden opportunites to seal a big 3 points, and force their way into the top 10.

Yildray Basturk was handed a debut in the Rovers line up ahead of David Dunn, whilst Kalinic and Roberts featured together in attack.

Their was a sense of freedom in the early stages of the game. Both teams with almost little to play for apart from mid table positioning, with Wolves all but mathematically safe from relegation. The first quarter of the game drifted past without any signs of a clear cut opportunity, until the 20th minute, when the luck of Kalinic struck again. A deep cross from Olsson saw Kalinic out jump his marker, however, his header, crashed into the wood work. Whilst Kalinic failed to trouble the score board, captain Nelsen found the net, once again this season after enduring several goalless seasons.

Gamst Pedersen’s inswinging corner found the outstretched Nelsen, who appeared to caress the ball into the net with his thigh, opening the scoring. 1-0 Blackburn. A few sloppy challenges brought an end to the first half, with Basturk coming off for David Dunn at the break.

The first 15 minutes of the second half was pretty much dominated by long shots at goals, rarely troubling the keepers. Craddock and Doyle let go from range for Wolves, whilst Andrews, a substitute for Kalinic, also tried his luck, to little avail.

Pedersen came close to sealing the game for Rovers. A delightful switch of play by David Dunn found Gamst on the burst. His first touch set up the volley, however his venomous strike was directed straight at the Wolverhampton Goal keeper. Blackburn were left to rue the missed opportunity only a minute later.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake was left unmarked on the 6 yard line, angling his header into the far post, and into the back of the net from a right sided cross. 1-1

Di Santo came on for Roberts, and almost nicked a 93rd minute winner for Blackburn. A delightful 1-2 with Keith Andrews found Di Santo surging into the box, however his strike crashed into the post and out of play.

A draw it was, in a match Rovers really should of taken the 3 points from…..Story of our year really?
