As if Blackburn Rovers goalkeeping prospects weren’t looking good enough another highly rated youngster has joined the academy ranks.

15-year-old Bjorn Bussman, already a regular in the under-17 Cologne side has made the switch to Ewood Park from the German club. Head of the FC Cologne youth academy Christoph Henkel said:

He’s going to go to England. We’re not happy about it and we don’t think it’s the right decision. We made him a very good offer with a view to becoming a senior player. But Bjorn opted for Blackburn.”

Bussman becomes the second promising goalkeeper to leave Cologne for England in recent times after Ron-Robert Zieler joined Manchester United last year.

If Bussman eventually signs a professional contract with Rovers we will have to pay Cologne compensation, if not we won’t.

Jason Brown looks to be Brad Friedel’s natural success but maybe Bussman will be Brown’s?
