Agent’s dealings causing more concern

There is fresh concern this morning over the involvement of agent Jerome Anderson at Blackburn Rovers.

Anderson heads up sporting management company SEM and alongside the now infamous Kentaro agency were key advisers to Rovers Indian owners Venky’s in their acquisition of Blackburn from the Walker Trust back in November.

Doubts were raised at the time by supporters and stakeholders within football that an agency was so close to a club and it’s day to day running but today’s little snippet of news could add fuel to the fire.

This is because news has filtered through that Jerome Anderson’s son Myles has signed a pre-contract agreement with Rovers ahead of the summer.

Myles has been strutting his stuff for Aberdeen in recent times but a gentleman’s agreement has been struck between manager Steve Kean and his counterpart Craig Brown that Anderson (a left back/centre back) will head to Rovers in the summer.

Now Myles may very well be a good player but this deal is likely to amuse Rovers fans with fears that Anderson is starting to call the shots at Ewood Park in an unofficial capacity and making money off flogging his own players to the club to make a mint off us.

Despite Venky’s insistence that all is well and SEM/Kentaro are not the only agents they use, the evidence put forward to the contrary is not the most supportive of that.

It probably didn’t help that prior to his sacking Sam Allardyce left with reported concerns of outside influences over the transfer plans.

I think Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson summarises it the best (yes Vinjay we know) –

Ferguson is quoted in the Telegraph as saying – “You`ve got that issue at Blackburn of an agent involved and deciding the future of the club, Jerome Anderson, he couldn`t pick his nose. It`s baffling and it`s a serious threat to how clubs get run and how they conduct themselves.”
