Blackburn Rovers were linked to Ahmed Al-Muhammadi when Paul Ince was the manager at Ewood Park, despite the fact that he has left Al-Muhammadi himself claims he is still a target.

The Egyptian had a trial with Rovers in November but despite Ince’s departure Sam Allardyce is understood to have retained an interest in the winger (who Rovers scouts watched in an International Egypt played against Kenya today) who claims that a move could still happen.

Al-Muhammadi told FilGoal.com: “The delegation will attend tonight’s friendly game between Egypt and Kenya before meeting ENPPI officials on Saturday to discuss the transfer.

“The English club are keen on signing me before the closure of the transfer window.

“The appointment of Sam Allardyce as Blackburn coach did not change anything.

“Ince’s assistants are still working at the club and they were convinced that I was good enough to play in the Premiership.

Al-Muhammadi is wrong from the off, as Ince’s assistants are no longer working with the club, unless he means the scouts, which most probably are largely the same.

He has also claimed that Rovers are interested in fellow countryman Mahmoud Abdul-Razek ‘Shikabala’, who would also be watched.

He added: “Blackburn officials watched a DVD containing the best of Shikabala. They will watch him in action when Egypt face Kenya at Cairo stadium.
