All Rhodes Lead To Premier League

Blackburn Rovers had a good season and missing out on the Play-Offs (just!!) shouldn’t take too much gloss off an improved season that shows positives signs going forward.

Much of this club is geared for Premier League Football again, however, the question this summer is going to be will a man that has all the hallmarks of a Premier League striker still be with us when the next season begins??

As I’ve suggested in my cleverly punned title (which if you’ve not guessed it by now is a play on words of Jordan Rhodes’s name) our main striker is headed to the Premier League, with or without us.

It’s always hard to judge just how well a player could do in the Premier League when you base this on League 1 and Championship Football but with Rhodes regularly scoring 20-plus goals over the years (including 36 in 40 matches in one season with Huddersfield Town) and 25 goals or more for Rovers in the least two seasons a striker with that predatory instinct would surely cut it in the Premier League??

His 25 goals this season, quite a return, was actually less than he scored for us the season before when he managed 26 goals (28 in total as he scored two for Huddersfield before we brought him in) if we are able to keep the £8m man at Ewood Park for next season I’d hope that 25-30 goals could come from him again and as long as others chipped in with more then we can make the Play-Offs at least.

We’ve had the problem of not scoring enough, or more to the point others not helping with the scoring enough. If we can find that one person (or several persons) to help chip in the goals and Rhodes could still keep up his end of the bargain unlike this season I’d think we’ll be able to see the job through.

Rhodes is definitely heading to the Premier League sooner or later, however, the later we leave it the less likely it’ll be that the Scottish International will be doing it with Blackburn and if we lose him then I fear we’ll lose our best chance of getting back to the top level of the English game anytime soon.
