Blackburn Rovers gained a valuable three points at Hull City on Sunday afternoon and manager Sam Allardyce was thrilled to have picked up the points on what was a good day for us.

The 2-1 win at the KC Stadium (the first away win in the Premier League under Allardyce) allowed Rovers to climb out of the Premier League’s bottom three on goal difference after goals from Stephen Warnock and Keith Andrews. Big Sam knew it was going to be a difficult afternoon, but was delighted that we came through it.

Allardyce told Sky Sports: “You are always under a lot of pressure because of the spirit of the team and the fans are always behind them here.

“They got the goal and it was a nerve jangling finish but we saw it out really well. We scored two really good goals it’s a very, very good day for us today.

“It takes us back into the pack and now we have the first away victory under our belt since I have been here.

The win did come at a price though with Paul Robinson injured and Morten Gamst Pedersen sent off, a sending off that Big Sam didn’t think was justified and only happened as a result of the referee evening things up having previously reduced Hull to ten men as well when Dean Marney saw red.

He added: “Our problem was the evening up of the sending off which was harsh that put pressure on us.

“I don’t think it was fair. The first one wasn’t a booking even the second one he tried to make an attempt to get the ball but it hasn’t cost us anything.

Robinson was injured after a collision with Hull’s Michael Turner and despite making it through until half-time the England International had to be replaced by Jason Brown and now Rovers sweat over his fitness with Robbo sent for a scan.

Big Sam also said: “We have sent Paul Robinson off to the hospital to make sure he is OK.

“We are not quite sure what’s up with him so it’s a precaution, it’s not a serious one. He wasn’t feeling well before the game but he wanted to play.

It was a HUGE win for Rovers, and a win that we desperately needed (if nothing else but to firmly drag Hull into the relegation battle) it’s just unfortunate that this win did come at a cost with the injury to Robbo and the sending off of MGP (not that I expect the Norwegian to be missed that much!!!)
