Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce discusses his thoughts on our victory over Hull City on Wednesday with Sky Sports.

Allardyce conceded that we made hard work of getting the victory at Ewood Park after missing chances to secure the points, however, overall he felt that we earned the 1-0 win.

Allardyce told Sky Sports: “We made hard work of it in the end but it was a well-earned victory.

“Chances went begging after they went down to ten men and that puts more pressure on you to make sure you get the victory.

Martin Olsson was involved in the goal and the young Swede will want to claim it, however, an own goal from Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill is more likely. Big Sam had praise for Olsson and also knew that Hull would push on as the match went on (despite being down to 10-men) so knew it would get anxious with this anxiety being eased had we scored again.

He added: “We got off to a terrific start and it was a wonderful goal from Martin Olsson. Outstanding quality down the left.

“But then we couldn’t find a second and got a bit anxious towards the end because Hull were always going to throw caution to the wind.

We should’ve made it easier for ourselves, however, at this stage of the season the win and three points (however it comes) is most important.
