Rovers manager Sam Allardyce will miss Rovers next three matches in order to undergo an operation on a coronary artery, it has been announced on the Rovers official website.

Allardyce, made the club aware yesterday that he had been experiencing chest discomfort and doctors have confirmed surgery is what is needed for the big man.

His operation will involve an angioplasty – an operation that widens the artery using a stent (a tube).

Rovers chairman John Williams, speaking to rovers.co.uk said – ‘Sam is very disappointed, but his well-being is of prime consideration,’

‘We all appreciate that Premier League football is a stressful business and prevention is always better than cure.’

Neil McDonald will be in temporary charge over the next week as Sam recovers.

Get well soon Big Guy and we’ll get you some points for when you are back!
