I didn’t ever feel Jay Spearing wasn’t quite good enough for Liverpool, however, I’ve always liked the new Blackburn Rovers loan signing from Bolton Wanderers, more so after his Fulham debut.

The VBers here felt that he was our Man of the Match from our 2-1 win over Fulham last Saturday afternoon (how badly did we need that!!) and Gary Bowyer felt the same with him praising his debut for Rovers having arrived just twenty-four hours earlier, which was all the more impressive as he’d not played a first-team match in as many as seven-weeks.

Speaking on The Official Website Bowyer was full of praise, saying: “It was an unbelievable debut. We had to take him off towards the end to protect him, because that’s his first game for six or seven weeks.

“The biggest compliment I can pay to him, is that he looked like he had been here a lot longer than just 24 hours.

“He slotted in straight away and he’s only going to get better for us.“

The former Bolton skipper is “a leader” and that was obvious with Bowyer sure that we’ll continue to benefit from his arrival with him going from “strength to strength” the fitter he gets and the more matches that he plays.

Coming from Bolton wasn’t going to make this move the easiest, however, I was confident that this was a superb move and didn’t think that his being “out of favour” at The Macron Stadium meant that he wasn’t “good enough for us” so I was very happy we’d signed him on loan until the end of the season and if we get more matches like the Fulham match (he’ll not be great all the time though!!) anyone left in doubt will be swayed!!
