With Andy Todd’s Blackburn Rovers career seemingly over as little as two weeks ago after coming back in the former captain has impressed with Mark Hughes suggesting he’ll now be staying at Ewood Park.

When handed this glimmer of hope following Stephane Henchoz’s sending off against Newcastle United, having previously failed to feature since the opening week of the season Todd came on for the second 45 minutes, then started against Nancy in the following game. An early injury in that match seemed to have cut short his comeback but he recovered in time to face Reading last weekend and put in a fine performance that has been heralded by Hughes. Sparky told the Lancashire Evening News:

Andy Todd hasn’t had a great deal of football, but he’s had a hell of a week. He’s come back into the fold and against Reading was as solid as a rock. I’m pleased for him.

I think clubs have made enquiries about Andy.

They’ve asked about his availability and whether he could go out on loan, but there’s nothing doing on that score.”

Often in life one persons misfortune is another’s gain; the same seems to be applying to Toddy hear as with Zurab Khizinashvilli ruled out with injury then Stephane Henchoz through ineligibility for the UEFA Cup then suspension in the Premiership Toddy has taken his chance with both hands so the teams lining up to take him in January including Premiership sides Charlton Athletic, Sheffield United and Wigan Athletic may have to wait a while longer to gain his services?
