Appleton pleased but wanting more

Rovers boss Michael Appleton was pleased with a thrid straight win after a narrow but in the end deserved 1-0 victory over Ipswich at Ewood Park on Saturday.

Rovers were laboured in the first half but hit their stride in the second after the introduction of DJ Campbell (and withdrawal of the fairly languid Morten Pedersen).

A Jordan Rhodes goal (it wasn’t an own goal don’t be daft) saw the home side home but Appleton has refused to get carried away and has even acknowledged that the squad needs adding to over the next 7 days if progress is to be maintained.

‘I think we need a few more bodies, I think it is crying out,’ said Appleton on Radio Rovers.

‘I want to be able to change things a little bit earlier at times if I want to.

‘I’d like to give us a different impetus with certain players and different players in different positions.

‘I’d love to bring three bodies in before Saturday’s game, obviously we’ll re-evaluate things after Tuesday but I still think we are a little bit short and if we pick up one or two injuries in certain areas we’ll leave ourselves short.

‘So I’ll be seeking to make sure we get recruits in.’
