According to the papers today Blackburn are ready to sell Nikola Kalinic in the summer – after he was frozen out of Steve Kean’s plans.

The Croatian striker, who cost £6million when Sam Allardyce signed him two seasons ago, is still the top scorer at Rovers this term.

But Kalinic has been left out of the squad recently and is not playing for the reserves.

Kalinic’s agent has spoken to Rovers about the striker’s future and he seems sure to be found a new club at the end of the season.

Is it just me that is mystified by this?

We have Roberts who is not a goal scorer no matter how hard he tries, Santa Cruz who is not in good form and Benjani who is not good at all. Niko is still our top scorer and always puts in 100% and looks a threat.

Personally I cannot figure out what Kean is up to other than being the absolute fool we all know him to be.

  • If we sell him, I, along with pretty much every Rover’s fan, will be *****ed. He is the best striker we currently have and he has bags of potential. If we let him go, it will come back to bite us in the ass when he becomes a PL star. WTF are you playing at Kean and Venky’s? I hope the fans mount huge protests over this, because Venky’s will ruin our club if they let our best assets leave.

  • I could see him going to somewhere like Villa/Spurs and having a good bite of the cherry. Not an out and out goalscorer but bags of potential!

  • Some of the media here, in Croatia, are suggesting that he wasn’t playing lately because of the clause in his transfer contract by which Blackburn would have to pay another 0.5 M ?, to Hajduk Split, after he scores 15 goals in official competitions (and he scored 13 goals so far).

  • It is hard to pinpoint exactly where I first became aware, but now I know we are in the presence of true genius, step forward Steve Kean…the man with the golden touch. There are few who could turn a tight, effective, battling team into such incompetents in such a short space of time, freezing out the top striker is the mark of a master, his six fingered underlings are delighted with his achievements. Time this useless tool left the building

  • Thanks for the info Antenov. If this truly is the case it is a sad matter. Our survival is worth more than ?500k. Something bizarre is definately going on.

  • Thanks for the info, Antenov. I actually posted a comment in the forums about how I thought he was not being played due to transfer add ons in his contract, but I thought it would be due to him playing 50 games rather than scoring 15 goals. If that is the case, it’s utterly ridiculous, Venky’s are supposed to be mega rich, what difference does £500k make to them? If they sell him, they will be even more hated than they are now.

  • Be really sad if we let him go and surprising seeing he cost us £6 Million, However venkys dnt lose if we sell as it wasnot their money which purchased him, although I remember an early interview with the Venky geezer wi the pony tail and he stated Kalinic was his favourite player. Reminds me of the surprise departure of Derbyshire

  • ever morning i go on this web site hoping for gud news but it still has not came i have to wonder will i ever here such head lines as kean quits ,, kean fired ,,, or my favorite kean killed by chicken lorry ,,,,, why would we even try to sell Kalinic top top striker think he should get more games

  • the rumour is natural given the current situation…i would really want to hear it from kean what his problem wiht niko.

  • Time for Kean to clear all this up. Can understand him not starting him as he’s been putting way too much faith in Santa Cruz to fire some goals but Niko is a goalscorer and he should be on the bench at the very least in front of old spoon feet Jason Roberts and Benjani.

  • If the manager chooses not to play our top scorer (not saying a lot) he must have a reason. For me Kalinic makes decent runs but whenever he gets near a defender he falls over and waves his arms at the ref. Santa Cruz is far from fit but we know he is a real striker when on form. It would be good if the Club were to come out and shed some light on the issues with Kalinic otherwise all sorts of rumours will be invented and broadcast.

  • He has been quoted today as saying, If his situation dnt change he is off in the summer, and he has also said he is not on the transfer list
