Blackburn entertain Chelsea, fresh off a mid-week Champions League defeat to Roma, they have something to prove, so do Rovers.

The defeat for Chelsea couldn’t of come at a worse time for Blackburn as Chelsea will be looking to bounce back and continue their impressive Premier League performance.

Chelsea so far have only been beaten by Liverpool in the league and have been a lot more expansive in their play than under previous managers Jose Mourinho and the least charismatic man in the world – Avram Grant.

However their defence remains as stingy as ever. Scolari must be given credit for that. On their day for me they are the best in the league.

However, Rovers have been playing a lot better than their league position suggests and are due some luck. Having out played Aston Villa and got nothing, Rovers were then robbed of a win last weekend with a criminal sending off putting the blue and white army down to ten men for an hour. Oh dear.

One thing Ince must do is make us more competitive against the top 4. Against Arsenal fair enough, the scoreline was very harsh, however against Man United, Rovers offered very little.

Couple that with the efforts of Stoke, Hull, Everton, Spurs and the pressure they have been able to put on the ‘Big 4’ and we need to step up a gear.

Rovers Team News:

Benni McCarthy is suspended after his ridiculous sending off and Roque Santa Cruz rated 50/50.

This will probably result in Matt Derbyshire and J-Rob starting up front.

Player of the season so far Brett Emerton is also out, while Vince Grella is another doubt. Steven Reid and Dave Dunn are long term injury sufferers. Brilliant news eh?

Player to watch: Keith Andrews

Mocked in his first few weeks as a Rovers player but his efforts over the last 2/3 games have not gone unnoticed by myself.

Rescued a point for us against West Brom and has stepped up to the plate with some all action displays.

The game tomorrow could suit him down to the ground – I kid thee not.

Chelsea Team News:

Chelsea have the genuinely excellent Ricardo Carvalho and the genuinely unlikeable Ashley Cole out for tomorrow. They are joined on the sidelines by midfielders Michael Ballack and Michael Essien.

Rumour has it veteran Mineiro could make his EPL bow.

Player to watch: Frank Lampard

Always scores against Rovers without fail it seems.

Mix that in with the fact he has been on fire and has arguably been the Premier League’s best player so far this season and he is going to be hard work tomorrow.

Match Facts & Stats

Ref Watch:

Chris Foy is in charge. hhmmmm bit hit and miss this one.

Match Prediction:

I am going to stay optimistic. People may mock me but we are due some good fortune and I believe we will get it tomorrow.

2-2 draw, Chris Samba and Jason Roberts to score.

Next Fixtures:

Sunderland in the Carling Cup on Wednesday, then Sunderland again on Saturday in the league.
