Benjani should be a a Blackburn Rovers in the next 24 hours.

Big Sam Allardyce has decided to start negotiations with the Zimbabwean after seeing enough of him at Brockhall to convince him he is worth a go.

Benjani would cost nothing and has let it be known he will take a massive pay cut from his Man City days to secure a future in the Premier League.

John Williams and Allardyce have been busy bees as they also look to bring in one more attacker before the window closes but the Rovers chairman has warned other clubs they will not over pay for anybody.

This is after a couple of recent bids for unnamed strikers have proved fruitless.

Williams spoke to the Lancashire Telegraph and said – “We have made a couple of offers but the clubs` valuations for these players are way above what we have offered. The valuations are substantially above what we are prepared to pay.”
