Benni McCarthy admits he’s putting his Blackburn Rovers future on the line by committing himself to South Africa’s African Nations Cup campaign in January.

Both he and Aaron Mokoena will be absent for up to a month as both will represent South Africa in the competition to take place in January.

Many other clubs from the Premier League will suffer from losing players to the competition… some more than others.

‘It often jeopardises the career of a player, but everyone wants to represent their country,’ Rovers top goalscorer said, speaking to skysports.co.uk.

One major bonus for Rovers is that Congo didn’t qualify for the finals so the massive Christopher Samba will not be absent.
