Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy has said that he could see himself ending his career at Ewood Park.

It’s a far cry from the McCarthy we have heard from in the past (but it is something that is good to hear, hopefully his actions will speak louder than words though) but having recently signed his new contract the South African International now says that he could see himself finishing his career with the club, also once again saying he will be back to his best next season.

McCarthy told Sky Sports: “I’ll be back to my old self, no more distractions. I’m looking to buy a house in Blackburn and become a local citizen and once I get all that sorted out I will give them something to think about over the holidays.

“When you come in first season and score 24 goals then the second season there are more obstacles.

“The competition is tougher now than it was last season. Unfortunately this year it has not been smooth sailing for me but now with the contract signed the club can be more at ease and the player can finish his football at this club.

“I would easily – that is why I signed. I can see myself finishing my football here.

“Look at Tugay, look at Brad Friedel. Those are the examples I am trying to follow
.”

Good to hear from Benni, now follow these words with actions dude, and Sunday could be a good starting point as he is expected to be back in the squad to face Birmingham City.
