Vital Blackburn’s most recent Poll asked you “What was Septembers top Goal?” You voted in favour of David Bentley.

With a whopping 76% voted unanimously in favour of David Bentley for goal of the month for his superb strike in the UEFA Cup win over Salzburg.

Gaining 11% for his strike in the same game, Benni McCarthy would finish as runner up having won the award for August after scoring Rovers’ one, and only goal that month. With Robbie Savage’s free kick in the first leg of that European tie gaining third place with 6%.

Morten Gamst Pedersen’s goal, was it a shot, was it a cross against Manchester City would gain 5% with McCarthy’s goal in the same match with City and Shabani Nonda’s winner in the match with Middlesbrough gaining 1% each.

Having won the Midfielder and Player of the Month poll’s for September after some fine performances, David Bentley has scooped his third honour of that month by being voted the player to score September’s goal of the month for this click here wonder strike against Salzburg in the UEFA Cup 1st round 2nd leg on 28th September 2006.
