Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince has spoken with David Bentley, but it is understood that his stance on wanting to leave Ewood Park this summer hasn’t changed, and he is still determined to leave.

Bentley has stressed his desire to move on to “better himself” at a Champions League club, which he also believes will enhance his England chances (as clearly these have been hindered by the fact he is playing at Ewood!!! Has he not noticed that he IS being selected for squads anyway!!!). However, so far he isn’t getting many offers from these clubs as Liverpool seem to have cooled their interest (maybe they can’t afford him?!?!) and none of the other Champions League three from next season have shown an interest!!!

It now looks like any movement will be to either Aston Villa or Tottenham Hotspur, which unless I am mistaken (as big as they BOTH are and could yet still be) ARE NOT playing in the Champions League. If he left for one of these two sides what would stop him deciding he wanted to move on again in a couple of years time if they don’t make the Champions League either?!?!

As far as I’m concerned it is time for Bentley to go, we shouldn’t keep him if he is unhappy, we have stood by him and this is how we are repaid. We should sell him to the highest bidder (others play this game so why shouldn’t we!!!) He will not be going anywhere else to better himself (from the looks of it) he will merely be going to a bigger name club, which in terms of what can probably be offered to him won’t be that much different to what is on offer at Ewood Park (UEFA Cup football aside next season) over the coming years.

Meanwhile some slightly concerning reports in the newspapers over the past couple of days say that Paul Ince could offer Joey Barton a Premier League lifeline at Ewood next season.

Barton is currently enjoying a holiday at her majesties pleasure, but with his Newcastle United future uncertain it is understood that Ince is willing to take him on loan for a year, with the option of signing him if all works out?!?!
