Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley took his goals tally to three for the season after his second goal in as many games with his opener in the 2-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday, now he is targeting more.

The England International is now targeting getting into double figures (which a player of his ability and quality should be able to) and if he didn’t we would all be disappointed wouldn’t we?!?!

Bentley told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “I’m looking to get into double figures this year and hopefully that is what I’ll do.

“If I continue at work hard, to continue to be honest and to give it my all, I believe in my own ability and that I can get there
.”

However, despite his delight at scoring his goal, which was obvious he was a little embarrassed by the way he did celebrate the goal, which was not the most graceful of celebrations. He added: “You are always delighted when you score, you could see the way I celebrated, I fell over like an idiot!

My admiration for Bents is not much of a secret, nor is anyone else’s but if I had one criticism of him it would be his lack of goals. He needs to contribute more of these and then he will be the complete product no doubt about it.
