Bentley’s Contract Concerns

Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley has admitted there is some uncertainty surrounding the signing of his new contract, but has stressed how much he loves the club.

The England International has been locked in talks over a contract extension for some time, however, this is still not any closer to being concluded, and although he is contracted until 2011 he isn’t completely closing the door on a possibly move away from Ewood Park (and the links to others ARE growing).

Bentley told BBC Radio Lancashire: “It’s been going on for a few months. I’m not sure what’s happening, it would be the hardest decision if I left but hopefully I’ll sign.

“My agent is sorting it all out, I don’t really look to get involved.

“I know something is getting sorted out but we’ll just have to see where it goes from there
.”

The 23-year-old winger has conceded his love for the club though, but also says that this can’t always be enough to keep you at a club, HOPEFULLY though this will be, however, I personally feel that if we do miss out on Europe next season then this could be a BIG problem for us?!?! And our chances took a MAJOR blow with out defeat against West Ham United today.

He added: “You have to get these things right. You never can rush into anything, especially long-term contracts, so we’ll just have to see what happens.

“I love this club, I love everyone that works here, the staff, the players and the management. I love coming to work every day but football is football and you never know what’s around the corner
.”
