Blackburn Rovers have been handed a blow ahead of the coming season with the news that Bruno Berner might have broken, or at least damaged a foot metatarsal?

The Swiss utility player (who can literally play almost ANYWHERE) was handed a start by Mark Hughes in Wednesday Evening’s defeat to Huddersfield Town, but a foot injury sustained in the 2-1 loss is of major concern to Hughes, and the Rovers squad.

With the new season a little over a week away injuries are the last thing you want to pick up, and it is quite possible that Berner has broken a metatarsal (made famous by David Beckham and more recently Wayne Rooney), which is something that he has done before, and if he has he will probably be looking at a couple of months out injured.

Berner will undergo and X-ray today, but Sparky has admitted he is cornered. He told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website:

There’s a little bit of concern.

“He felt something in his foot, and he’s had a metatarsal before, so we’re hopeful that it isn’t a reoccurrence of that.

“He was able to walk which was something he wasn’t able to do apparently when he did it before.

“We’re hopeful that it hasn’t gone completely, he’s going for an X-ray on Thursday morning, so we’ll be guided by that, obviously the way he pulled up there would be a concern about that
.”
