Best on the radar as Yak replacement

Rovers have had a £2m bid for Leon Best accepted by Newcastle United and are now waiting to try and convince the player to drop into the Championship.

Best has been something of a cult figure at Newcastle after a good run of form but has recently seen opportunities to play become non-existent such is the form of Demba Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba at St James Park.

As a result he has been left sitting on his backside and Rovers are hoping the chance to get a run of games will be enticement enough for the powerful striker to head to the North West.

Best’s potential arrival is designed to offset the upcoming departure of star striker Yakubu who is pretty certain to be off to China in a big money move to Guangzhou R&F.
