Blackburn are interested in signing German wonder boy Nils Petersen from the wonderfully named Energie Cottbus.

Rovers, as anyone who hasn’t been hiding under a rock knows, are in need of a few goals without spending bucket loads so it seems Big Sam has been doing his homework early for the January transfer window.

The price is rumoured to be around £2 million which for someone who has plundered 8 goals in 9 games this term is not half bad.

Cottbus manager Claus-Dieter Wollitz told Bild newspaper – ‘Nils Petersen is on his way to becoming a massive player. There was a scout from Blackburn watching him against Bochum and he also watched him in action against Freiburg last Tuesday.’

And he wasn’t the only one who chipped in with a quote either, the players agent hasn’t been shy.

Meanwhile, Liberam chipped in – ‘Blackburn have been looking at Nils for a few matches now. They seem to be very interested and have been in touch with us.

‘Mr Glover (as in Martin the Blackburn scout) has been impressed by Nils’ performance against Bochum.’
