Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce has said that Morten Gamst Pedersen is going nowhere in January following speculation linking him with a move to Celtic.

Allardyce has said that Rovers haven’t had any enquires about Pedersen after the Norwegian’s agent had said the Scottish club were interested in the winger even if he didn’t expect anything to happen in January.

Allardyce told Sky Sports: “I’ve had no enquiries for my players at this moment.

“Someone has whispered in my ear about the first bit of speculation, that Morten is going to Celtic.

“We’re going to get the normal chip paper flying around in the next few weeks.

Pedersen is one of several players awaiting contract talks with Rovers and MGP’s contract ends at the end of the season, however, Big Sam says that contract talks with anyone are on hold for the time being as any unwelcome distractions aren’t needed and these talks would be distractions.

He added: “We’re not in a contract sort of mood at the moment – I’m certainly not

“Talking about contracts and talking about ins and outs at this stage of the season – we’ve got a massive December coming up and a massive January and the distractions that come our way can destroy what you do on the field of play.

“So I want to keep as far away from that as we possibly can and cover it when we are good and ready and consider it to be the right time.

Big Sam does still expect Benni McCarthy to move on in January though due to his well documented thoughts on his Rovers situation, however, retaining as many as possible if the Ewood bosses top priority for January. Personally I’m not expecting much activity in January’s Transfer Window, however McCarthy is likely to go isn’t he and seeing MPG leaving at the end of the season wouldn’t surprise me at all.
