Big Sam Allardyce is prepared to play the waiting game to get the right striker into the club – despite initially claiming that he wanted all sumer business done by the World Cup.

But with the tournament starting in 3 days it seems a tad unlikely this will be so and Allardyce, it seems, is struggling to find the right value in the market for a club with as limited funds as Rovers.

There is also the feeling that Rovers could wait to sell off a few fringe players that Allardyce can afford to lose, which will stengthen rovers bargaining power.

Vince Grella is apparently set for a £2 million move to Galatasaray and players such as Pascal Chimbonda, El Hadji Diouf and maybe even Keith Andrews are rumoured to be under consideration to sell to raise funds (this is speculation).

But either way, it seems we are in for playing the waiting game… just like every pre-season!!!

  • not to bothered really, we can afford to wait as window doesnt shut till like september, as long as we dont wait while last day for everything to go tits up e.g. dindane in january.

  • i hope diouf and andrews leave, diouf is one of the highest earners at blackburn and we clearly can’t afford to keep people like him whereas andrews was a paul ince signing, as was grella who i am very happy to see leave. Striker wise, we should bid for Marc Janko.

  • want to keep Diouf.. sell Jacobsen, Andrews, Grella, Bunn to raise say 5 million from them? + the 1.75m from benny + 2.25m from the league.. should give us about £7m (board will take some no doubt, im not that bad at maths!) say take away £2m for Guti’s wages.. gives us £5m for 1 or 2 strikers.. say we get Boyd free then we could perhaps get a better striker for £5m?

  • i dont understand why we would be keeping diouf ahead of emerton though! diouf is on a much higher pay packet, and does half the work!
