Big Sam wanted in Dubai

Dubai club Al Ahli are considering making a move for Rovers head honcho Big Sam Allardyce.

Stories surfaced at the weekend that the ambitious Dubai club are looking to make waves in the world football and back up their purchase of Fabio Cannavaro with a big name manager.

Several names like Marcelo Lippi and Mark Hughes have been bandied about alongside the Rovers boss but Sam’s name is one that could lead to a firm move if they get the right sounds from the former Newcastle and Bolton Wanderers manager.

The backroom at Ewood Park are reported to be borderline desperate to hang onto Allardyce due to the sterling shift that he has done by rebuilding the club after the shocking term of Paul Ince.

Rovers, who are a ‘tad skint’, would not be able to match the money on offer in the tax free haven that is tropical Dubai and Sam is known to be a fan of the area as he holidays and does some pundit work over there. But they are banking on the stability factor on offer at Blackburn and the knowledge that Big Sam has built a team here with young players that are ready to breakout.

The man himself has not said much on the matter but early paper reports indicate he would reject a move to stay at Rovers – but that is more rumour than anything else.

This one could run for a bit but my gut feeling is that he will stay here.
