Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is poised and ready to pile the pressure on Scouse boss Roy Hodgson by getting his Rovers troops to perform to top ability on Sunday.

Rovers travel to Anfield on Sunday and Allardyce is confident that more damage can be inflicted on the Reds even as they embark on a new era of new owners.

Rovers may themselves have some new men at the helm shortly but there are warnings of what John W Henry and his new dawn at Liverpool could represent for our beloved Blue and Whites.

“We have to go and be professional and make sure we can perform at Anfield to our very best,’ Allardyce said to Sky Sports.

‘If we can then we can cause some problems with the lack of confidence that seems to be there at the moment.

‘All the pressure of the takeover and the money situation has obviously affected the team. Just like it affected Portsmouth last year, who were relegated.’

Allardyce admitted it was weird to be playing one of the ‘Sky Four’ with Blackburn ahead of them in the division but saw this as a good thing.

“Liverpool are below us and how often do you play Liverpool when they are below you?’ he said. ‘Very, very rarely. We have to take advantage of this situation.

‘A lot of their players are not playing to their best. If they start playing to their best it will make life very difficult for us.

‘But if we can defend like we did against Sunderland then we have a chance’.

Whilst Liverpool are on a downer there are a few things that our boss should be wary of.

Rovers have a history of ending teams bad runs and a set of new owners making their first visit could lift Liverpool to play above their current selves.

This could go either way.
