Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has made a impromptu trip to Canada in a bid to secure the long term future of Junior Hoilett.

Allardyce has, in various media sources and as reported on the forum by Vital Blackburns’ Rover 23, taken a couple of days out of his schedule to talk to the speedy winger/forwards’ Dad in a bid to keep him at Rovers in the long run.

Hoilett, who is only 19 is being eyed by German clubs and some Premier League clubs as well as they can get hold of him on a pre-contract in January, something Sam wants to desperately avoid.

Talented wide man Hoilett has been at Ewood for years but was granted a special work permit to get him playing in England after two loans spells at St.Pauli in Germany (hence the German clubs link) and years of trying to get him in a Rovers shirt.

In my opinion Sam is doing the right thing here. Every time Junior has been on the pitch this term he has the look of someone that will excite and will get fans talking for the right reasons.

We would be mad not to hold onto Junior, as he is well known to be the best prospect Rovers have had on their youth team books since Dave Dunn/Damien Duff.

The sooner the man above is tied down to an extended deal, the better.
