Alan Irvine’s time with Blackburn has come to an end with his departure from Ewood Park confirmed.

Irvine returned to Blackburn last November for a second spell as a coach under former boss Paul Lambert and was set to stay at Ewood Park with Owen Coyle but the former Rovers player has departed.

Mutual consent has seen the 57-year-old move on after seven-months, leaving with ‘immediate effect’ as he is looking to ‘further his career’ at pastures new.

His replacement to work alongside Coyle and first-team coach Rob Kelly will be appointed swiftly with Coyle telling rovers.co.uk.

‘We wish Alan well, as he is a great football man and a lovely person.’
