Eric Kinder, who was back for his second spell at Ewood Park, having previously left for Carlisle, has left his position as Blackburn’s Head of Academy with immediate effect.

A brief statement on the Official Website read:

‘Eric Kinder has left his position as Blackburn Rovers` Head of Academy with immediate effect. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Eric for all his work at the club, specifically as Head of Academy. He leaves with our best wishes, good luck for the future and will always be welcome back as a supporter.’

The lifelong Blackburn fan worked with the academy from 1996-2006, leaving for Carlisle. After a successful spell at Brunton Park former Rovers boss Gary Bowyer brought Kinder back in 2013.

An unexpected Kinder departure? Maybe, maybe not, but Blackburn, of course implementing changes under Tony Mowbray, are expected to fill this void swiftly.

Meanwhile, with Blackburn now undergoing a five day spell in Austria, which will result in a pre-season friendly with Sparta Prague on Friday in Salzburg, Mowbray has further reflected in Rovers recent victory at Barrow.

The boss is willing to concede a goal here and there if Blackburn are looking a threat going forward, an ‘attacking mentality’ is wanted, which Mowbray believes was shown in Saturday’s added time victory against the Cumbrians.

Mowbray told the Official Website: ‘I think it is important to try and create a culture that we have to try and win matches this year. I said to them at the end of the match that it is important that when you need to try and get three points you have to learn how to push on and gamble defensively a little bit.’

Adding: ‘Sometimes we might lose a late goal because we are trying to win a game, but we have to have a mentality of attacking and pushing people on. So it was pleasing that we did score a late goal against Barrow.’
