The 1875 protest against Venky’s is on with Blackburn fans protesting against the owners in the live Sky Sports match with Wolves tonight.

Many fans will arrive 18-minutes into the match and then leave it after 75-minutes have been played to symbolise the year Blackburn were formed, 1875.

Debts have risen to £104.2m under Venky’s, who have said they remain ‘committed to the club’ but that ‘commitment’ is seriously questioned with this the latest protest against them with others to follow.

On this protest Blackburn director Mike Cheston told the BBC, which came after the press weren’t permitted to ask Owen Coyle questions about this in his pre-match press conference, a peaceful protest is well within the rights of the Rovers fans but support for the team is something he also hopes to see in a match we ‘desperately want to win.’

‘We respect the fans’ right to protest. We will, as we always have, facilitate a peaceful protest. We want the fans to really get behind and support the team in a game that we desperately want to win.’
