Anthony Stokes, following his release by Celtic, could be on his way back to England with Blackburn being linked. Cardiff, Birmingham and Rotherham are also credited with an interest according to the Daily Mail.

The fact he worked with new Rotherham boss Alan Stubbs last season could mean the Millers fancy their chances but if these rumours are correct Blackburn are ‘ahead of their rivals’ as Rovers have already ‘opened talks’ with the Republic of Ireland international.

Another player with Sunderland previous, like Stokes, is Danny Graham who we know we’re looking to re-sign this summer following his release by the Premier League side following his successful loan spell at Ewood Park last season.

This is apparently the pairing Owen Coyle wants to go with next season, which would probably appeal to most wouldn’t it?

Fellow former loanee Jordi Gomez doesn’t look to be coming back though with Wigan (who looked into re-signing the 31-year-old when Paul Lambert brought him in on loan from Sunderland last season) being linked.
