Plenty of players left Blackburn during the summer, down to the club in most cases. Yes, some probably would have made a difference this season but it wasn’t to be with Tony Mowbray pretty active in the transfer market.
The boss brought in enough players to field a new XI entirely, and some, including a hat trick of late transfer deadline day arrivals, which also saw Liam Feeney another to exit Ewood Park, coming in last Thursday.
However, despite the deals Mowbray has been able to conduct it isn’t thought the boss has been able to do enough to see Blackburn challenge for instant promotion back to the Championship.

Have the transfer deals done enough for Blackburn to challenge for promotion?
How the Vital Blackburn members voted
No 58%
Yes 32%
Too soon to tell 10%
Admittedly, I’m slightly surprised at how pessimistic this view is? Ok, Blackburn haven’t had much to be optimistic about in recent times, in fairness some of the arrivals are young and inexperienced, but Rovers, on the face of it, look to have a decent squad.
One, which I could be wrong of course, should be good enough for a top-six finish, securing a play-off place, at least, I would have thought?
We’ll find out soon enough, as we will the outcome of Blackburn’s next game at Rochdale on Saturday. Rovers, without a League One game last time round due to international call ups, travel to Spotland seeking a third successive win.
This is the topic of the latest poll – it needs a vote.
