Blackburn shot themselves in the foot

13th in the Premier league, five points above the relegation zone, a situation most if not all Blackburn fans would have been happy with. This was clearly not the opinion of the new owners, who clearly took a big risk in sacking Sam Allardyce, a manager with premiership managerial experience, and most importantly the full backing of his players at the time. To bring in Steve Kean as his replacement, a man who despite being very experienced in coaching roles within many clubs, has yet to prove himself in a managerial role, and the decision to put Kean into the hot seat at Ewood Park surprised many people, most of all the fans.

Despite an encouraging start to Kean`s managerial career, Blackburn sit just two points of the relegation zone and have only taken one point in their last five games, and most recently losing to Fulham 3-2 away from home. Even though the Blackburn owners have publically announced their full backing to Kean, they will surely be feeling the pressure with only 9 games remaining this season. With Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal still to play, this run in is going to nail biting to say the least for Kean and his men.

Make no mistake, there are still enough games for Blackburn to get points from and move away from the dreaded relegation zone, but with the bottom half of the table so tight at moment a bad run of form at the wrong time can be detrimental to any clubs chances of staying up .

If Blackburn were to get relegated, the blame would surely point to the new owners. This would also be a classic example of overseas owners coming in to a football club, and trying to make too much of an impact when it`s not needed. And if the worst is to happen to the Rovers, many would wonder what would of happened if Sam Allarydce was still in charge.
