Well it’s one last push for Europe as Rovers take on already relegated Derby. I’ll be there and so should you be too.

Blackburn Team News:

Rovers striker Benni McCarthy is doubtful to play in Blackburn’s last home game of the season with a hamstring problem.

The South Africa international has been training this week, although Jason Roberts to set to retain his place in their starting line-up alongside Santa Cruz, having player the last month or so and been impressive throughout, it is doubtful Benni would of been in the starting line up anyway.

However, Mark Hughes is hopeful defender Christopher Samba will be okay to slot in at centre-back after being forced out of last Sunday’s win following a crunching tackle with Niko Kranjcar with an injury to his thigh.

Experienced Dutch centre-back Andre Ooijer is the prime candidate to fill in should Samba not be ready to return against The Rams, altrnatively there is also the criminally under utilised Zurab Khizanishvilli.

Player to watch: Johan Vogel

After a non-descript start to his career at Blackburn the last 2 games have yielded some terrific performances. He is not yet 100% fit but the quality is there to see. He sweeps up the trouble and lets the more attack minded players crack on.

Good spot Sparky.

Derby Team News:

Derby will be without experienced defender Alan Stubbs for the remainder of the campaign after his scheduled cartilage knee operation was brought forward to ensure he will be ready for next season with their relegation confirmed.

Jewell will have some defensive decisions to make with Dean Leacock joining Stubbs on the sidelines for their trip to Ewood.

The Pride Park outfit will also definitely be without midfielder David Jones who is out with a calf strain, although both Kenny Miller and Hossam Ghaly have been passed fit.

Wales striker Robert Earnshaw may be given the nod by Jewell after emerging off the bench in Monday’s 6-2 thumping by Arsenal to net his first Premier League goal for the club.

Player to watch: Robbie Savage

Has not been at his best for Derby but I for one will be giving the controversial midfielder and warm round of applause for his stint at Ewood.

It is no coincidence that since November when his legs went and he couldn’t play every game at the level expected that our form slumped.

Make sure he knows that today with a big ovation.

Match Prediction:

If Rovers play to the standard of the norm they will win and I believe that will be the case today. It would be typical of us to do something silly today but we won’t.

3-0 to the Rovers. And I’ll have a dabble with Roque to score twice and Morten to score as well.

Next Fixtures:

Final game of the season away at Birmingham.
