Blackburn Rovers weren’t (even though we now can’t given our FFP Transfer Embargo) likely to spend much (if any) money in January with “who goes” always the biggest question to answer.

The answer I’m hoping for is that with most (if not all) of our “key players” contracted to stays at Ewood Park beyond the end of the season that (unless it’s an offer we can’t refuse, meaning much more than we’d expect!!) that we’ll resist any offers for our players that are essential to the success of our season and they’ll show the ambition to stay with us and go up with us?? It’s easy in theory isn’t it!!

Even more so when you’ve record more massive losses!!

I know (and appreciate) the FFP rules mean we need to cut our cloth accordingly but I hope (and think I feel) we’ve got enough leeway to keep our main men?? Haven’t we?? The cost cutting we managed last Summer would’ve helped but offloading people like Paul Robinson and Leon Best (damn you Derby for sending him back!!) would help. Robbo and Best (people like that) and even Luke Varney (why did we sign him?? Please let speculation be true!!) are who we need to move on, however, that’ll be easier said than done.

What I think could happen late in the January Transfer Window is that (unfortunately) if that offer that’s “too good to refuse” for someone does come in from a Premier League club we might have to accept it, however, I would anticipate that any deal would involve a player that we need in a certain position (that will do a job) coming the other way. Either as part of the deal on a permanent basis (on wages that work) or on loan with “the option to buy” if realistically possible in the Summer, assuming our Transfer Embargo is then lifted!!

A week into the January Transfer Window and it’s so far so good, however, we’ve a long way to go.
