I’m sure resigning is something a large number would like Blackburn boss Owen Coyle to do isn’t it – he’s not looking to do that though but has spoken about Ben Marshall’s present situation at Rovers saying he’s not resigned to anything at the moment.
Marshall continues to be linked with a move to Wolves. If he doesn’t make that transfer – or join another club in January – the likelihood is the midfielder will leave Blackburn at the end of his contract in the summer.
Asked if he had accepted Marshall would be sold in the coming weeks Coyle told the Lancashire Telegraph.
‘I`m not resigned to anything. The only way you lose him is if someone offers something for him. Then if they do, that`s a decision for the ownership.’
The report again highlighted the apparent £1.5m asking price any would be interested party will have to pay for the 25 year old in January. It was also claimed Marshall is on the Wolves wishlist drawn up by former Blackburn boss Paul Lambert.
When asked if Blackburn have received any offers for Marshall the boss said no but did add he wouldn’t be surprised if agents were chatting away.
‘Not yet, no. I`m saying not on my part, whether the agents are chatting away, as I imagine they would be, that`s happened before. For me it`s making sure we concentrate on what we have and them giving their best.’
He finished by again making the point if the right offer did come in for Marshall in January and Venky’s made the decision to sell he would like that money – previous doesn’t suggest he would – to invest in the squad.
‘If someone comes in for Ben Marshall and offers X amount, and he feels he`s not going to be at the football club, then of course the owners have a decision to make. If they do, and that money is available, then great, we will use it.’
