Bowyer Plans Rochina Availability

Ruben Rochina might be back with Blackburn Rovers (or will be as from tomorrow) but his future at Ewood Park remains very much in doubt.

Rovers Manager Gary Bowyer publically insists that until he hears otherwise (be it that the Spaniard makes it clear he wants to leave or an acceptable offer comes in) as the 23-year-old remains under contract at Ewood he’s still planning with him in mind for selection. Privately I’m not sure he has such an opinion though!!

Bowyer told The Lancashire Telegraph: “Ruben is still contracted to Blackburn Rovers and he is due in on Saturday.

“He’s had one or two things to tidy up back in Spain so we allowed him extra time to do that.

“We’ve got to plan with him and all the contracted players and until somebody tells me otherwise we will continue working with them here.”

Rayo Vallecano were given the opportunity to turn his loan spell into a permanent move but failed to sign him by the deadline that was set to do so, however, speculation continues to link them with him as well as Granada but the club maintain a view that no offers have been received.

Rochina’s another of those we could do with offloading if we can and I’d not be at all surprised if he did go before the end of August but if he’s contracted to us and we’re paying his wages if he’s a good enough option we’ve got to consider him haven’t we?? I don’t think he’s a better option mind!!

Other Blackburn news today (also in The Lancashire Telegraph) has seen us distance ourselves from an interest in Crewe Alexandra’s England Under-21 International striker Max Clayton, who has rejected a new contract with the League 1 side.

Crewe would be entitled to compensation but it isn’t going to be coming from us, Bowyer had already this week insisted that he was happy with the attacking options that he had anyway.
