Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley made the most of a low-scoring week at the top end of the Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Barclays Premier League, to move back into the top 10.

Bentley’s 19-point haul in the 1-0 win against Newcastle was enough to see him move up two places to ninth overall, leapfrogging Benjani and Fernando Torres in the standings and being out-scored by only Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand in the top 10.

It was also a good weekend for Rovers goalkeeper Brad Friedel, who was the top-ranked stopper in this week’s Index, earning 24 points for his performance to move up into 26th place overall.

Friedel made 12 saves during the game to earn his clean sheet, his second-highest return in a match this term, beaten only to the 13 he pulled off in the draw with Chelsea back in September.

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player`s contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.
