What can this man do. When Brad Friedel was at the top of his game as the Rover’s Custodian, Jason Brown battled away, taking his chances in the cup’s when they came, and the odd taste of Premiership football. On his debut, he saved a penalty. The next game, he saved another penalty.

Brad Friedel left, Paul Robinson came in. The wait continue’s for the Welshman, however, he was given another shot in the cup, and what did he do, saved a vital penalty….

Many would ask for a transfer, other’s would sit and just cash in, however, Jason Brown still fights on, hoping he get’s his shot as the Rover’s Number one.

Brown told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph

‘It is frustrating, because as a goalkeeper there is only one position. It is always disappointing not being in the team. I wouldn`t be a good professional if it was otherwise.’

It’s a friendly rivalry between Brown and Robinson. With both also hoping to reclaim their number one jersey’s for their countries, they push each other to the limit’s, with Robbo knowing one poor game, and their is a ready made replacement.

Credit must also go to Goal Keeper coach Bobby Mimms. Allardyce tells the LET

‘The technical side of goalkeeping coaching is what Bobby Mimms is very good at, hic coaching of starting positions, distribution etc. He has taken both lads on to another level’

Unfortunately for Browny, barring injury or suspension to Robbo, the wait just might have to continue….
