The BRSIT held a well attended and constructive open meeting on Saturday morning aimed at further outlining the fan’s initiative to help buy the club and give it back to the supporters.
The meeting, held at 10am at King Georges’s Hall was attended by around 500 with the aim being to present the idea to a larger audience and answer any questions/concerns that potential pledges may have.
With over 500 in attendance and with over £2 million in pledges received already, the two hour long meeting proved a step forward.
Wayne Wild told the Lancashire Telegraph – “We are exceptionally happy with how the meeting went.
“The room was full. Ninety per cent of the room put their hands up to say they hadn`t pledged so far so if they all pledged that would boost the fund dramatically.
“There were 1,200 people who had pledged money before that.
“We have 16,000 season ticket holders plus people who buy match tickets, plus people who live afar. So there are a lot of people still to convince and if we can convince only half of them then we can achieve our target.”
The plan from Mr Wild is to ask for talks to advance a bid to buy the club once the trigger figure of £10m has been hit and the aim is to speak to Venky’s as and when that happens.
“We`d approach Venky`s today but unfortunately our percentage if we were to go into discussion now would be much lower numbers.”
“It is going to be driven by when we can reach our initial target of £10m. The more money that we have, the more credible that it is.”
Wild spoke further of a joint effort with the likes of Seneca who recently declared an interest in buying the club – “We`ve had no direct contact, we`ve had some indirect contact.”
“Whoever the party is, we`d be open and willing to discuss a joint venture with anybody.”
