Building On A Positive Season

Blackburn Rovers are almost certain to fall just short of the Championship Play-Offs, however, it’s still been a very good season in my humble opinion.

I must say sorry for my lack of input recently, so many times I’ve planned to write something but time has got away from me, either that or Mr Mikey beats me too it!! Usually though it’s that pressing time issue.

I’ve been quite disheartened with Blackburn for a few years due to the situation off the field and what this has done to the club. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Gary Bowyer this season but I’ve been impressed with the way the Rovers Manager has offloaded so many of the high earners and brought in a blend of youth and experience that should, all being well, serve us well going forward.

Had you told me we’d end the season going into the final match of the Championship season still with a chance of getting back into the Premier League I’m not so sure I would’ve believed you, however, I’d definitely have accepted that!!

I’m of course gutted that we’ll fall just short (baring some mathematical miracle) but I take solace in what’s been an encouraging season and feel that if Bowyer is able to keep together the nucleus of this current squad, moving on some of the dead wood too as well as bringing in a few players in the right areas, next season could be a tasty one for us.

Still I have my reservations about the hierarchy at Ewood Park, however, if the right moves are made this summer and the right sound bites that come out of the club end up being followed up with the right moves I think I’ll be much more optimistic about next season and wouldn’t think that going into this as having a Promotion aspiration in mind would be too much to ask for would it??
