Chimbonda Contract Talks On Hold

Blackburn Rovers defender Pascal Chimbonda is keeping his options open for the time being and is understood to be in no hurry to commit his future to Rovers. If he does??

The 31-year-old defender will be out of contract next summer and that would enable him to leave Ewood Park on a FREE transfer. Sam Allardyce is keen to talk to the former French International about a new contract, however, talks over a new deal are being put on hold until Ahsan Ali Syed’s proposed takeover goes through.

TalkSPORT is saying that Chimbonda (who almost left Rovers for West Ham United on Deadline Day) is prepared to wait until January before holding talks with anyone, this would also mean that he could pre-arrange a summer move. However, it’s also understood that the former Wigan Athletic and Tottenham Hotspurs defender would be willing to talk to Rovers to find out what the clubs plans are once a takeover goes through, if it does.

Personally I’d not be in the least bit surprised to see Chimbonda organise a pre-transfer agreement with another club in the New Year.
