Blackburn Rovers legend Colin Hendry’s wife has died after a lengthy battle with illness.

Denise Hendry, 42, had spent three months in intensive care at Salford Royal Hospital for several weeks suffering from a serious infection.

The mother of four had been taken ill after undergoing an operation to correct damage caused by a cosmetic surgery treatment gone wrong.

Colin and Denise, who had been together for more than 20 years, have four children called Rheagan, Kyle, Calum and Niamh.

Mrs Hendry suffered from various complications after her operation including nine punctures to her bowel and colon, causing blood poisoning and multiple organ failure, all of which have led to her untimely death.

However, it is understood she suffered a meningitis infection as a result of her latest operation and was in a perilous state in hospital.

At this time without any suprise at all, our thoughts are with Colin and his children, this is terrible news.

R.I.P Denise, there is a saying that behind every great man is a great woman and i don’t for a second doubt that was true in Colins’ case.
