Blackburn Rovers have had announced no fewer than EIGHT fixtures changes between now and the first week in January, with four of them being shown live on Sky Sports.

The changes (as announced on the Official Blackburn Rovers Website) are as follows:

v Tottenham Hotspur (a) was Saturday October 27th, now SUNDAY OCTOBER 28th (kick-off 3pm)

v Manchester United (a) was Saturday November 10th, now SUNDAY NOVEMBER 11th (kick-off 3pm)

v Aston Villa (h) was Wednesday August 15th, now WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 28th (kick-off 8pm)

v West Ham United (h) was Saturday December 8th, now SUNDAY DECEMBER 9th (kick-off 4pm) – live on Sky

v Chelsea (h) was Saturday December 22nd, now SUNDAY DECEMBER 23rd (kick-off 4.10pm) – live on Sky

v Manchester City (a) was Wednesday December 26th, now THURSDAY DECEMBER 27th (kick-off 7.45pm) – live on Sky

v Derby County (a) was Saturday December 29th, now SUNDAY DECEMBER 30th (kick-off 1.30pm) – live on Sky

v Sunderland (h) was Tuesday January 1st, now WEDNESDAY JANUARY 2nd (kick-off 8pm)

Some of the changes will mean that the traditional Boxing Day and New Years Day fixtures WILL NOT take place this season, a tradition that personally I really look forward to, so it is a bit disappointing but Rovers had little or not option as Rovers Managing Director Tom Finn explained.

Finn told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “While we have no control on the selection of live television games, we are clearly aware that fans will be disappointed by us not being involved in matches on either Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.

“Our scheduled Boxing Day game at Manchester City has switched to Thursday December 27th due to Sky coverage.

“In view of the Derby County away fixture being put back 24 hours to Sunday December 30th, again to accommodate live television, Mark Hughes felt that in the best interests of player recovery and team preparation we should move the Sunderland game from its original New Year’s Day afternoon slot to the following night.

“We accept that it is not ideal, but trust our supporters will understand the reasoning behind the decision.

“The Spurs change is due to their continuing involvement in the UEFA Cup and we are pleased to have re-arranged the Aston Villa home fixture for Wednesday November 28th. It was originally postponed in August due to our own European fixture with MyPa-47
