Craig Conway could return to the Blackburn squad when Doncaster visit Ewood Park on Saturday.

The midfielder suffered a hamstring injury in pre-season, ruling him out of Rovers’ final pre-season fixtures as well as the opening League One game and League Cup win in midweek.

However, Tony Mowbray has revealed Conway could return to the squad at the weekend giving him another option, including a selection dilemma he’s happy to face at Ewood.

Mowbray told the Official Website: ‘I think we’ll probably have Craig Conway back at the weekend to throw into the equation. He can fit into the formation and the shape that we play extremely well. He has a fantastic work ethic and a goal threat, so it is good that there’ll be some selection dilemmas.’

Another who returned in the victory at Mowbray’s former club Coventry was Corry Evans.

Not only did the Northern Ireland international return the midfielder was back in the starting XI with the opening goal in Blackburn’s 3-1 win at the Ricoh Arena.

‘You cans see how influential he is in our football team and yet he didn’t even start the other day. I felt as though that was because of the pre-season. He missed all of my period at the football club at the end of last season and didn’t play a game. He missed practically the week in Austria and I felt as though he has to work his way in to the team,’ said Mowbray when commenting on Evans on the Official Website.

Evans will offer another option, which could be further boosted by the arrival of another midfielder Mowbray is keen to bring in.

Adding: ‘He showed me that it is very difficult to leave Corry Evans out of the team because of his talent in tight areas, his ability to pick passes, his ability to get around the pitch. He nicks the ball, he intercepts it, he’s a clever brain. So there’s competition and hopefully we’ll bring another midfield player in this week if we can to add competition to Smallwood, Whittingham and Evans.’
