As Marvin Emnes is moving towards the conclusion of his initial loan spell with Blackburn a desire to keep the Swansea loanee has again been expressed by Owen Coyle.
The Blackburn boss – ahead of the Boxing Day defeat to Barnsley – said he ‘would love’ to keep the Dutchman at Ewood Park. Not merely for an extended loan period – he wants him permanently.
He told the Official Website he also believes Emnes is enjoying his time with the club so could be open to this.
‘I would love Marvin Emnes here permanently. He really enjoys it here, he likes the football club and the fans have been very good to him and he enjoys playing for Blackburn Rovers.’
Adding.
‘So we’ve certainly had dialogue between Marvin and myself, now there’s another couple of parties involved in terms of Marvin’s representatives and Swansea his parent club.’
Looking to butter up Swansea – who are now after a new boss having sacking Bob Bradley, so his replacement might have plans for Emnes – Coyle thanked the Premier League club for this initial six month deal.
Coyle finished by saying talks will continue into the New Year.
‘Swansea really helped us out with the deal we did in bringing Marvin in for a lot less than what he actually earns. So he’s one that we’d love to keep here permanently and we’ll continue that dialogue and see where we’ll get to.’
Emnes could well leave Swansea in January – as his contract at the Liberty Stadium is expiring in the summer – but I’m not convinced this would see him stay at Ewood on a permanent basis, are you?
