Ben Marshall’s nearly into the final six-months of his Blackburn contract with a decision over the former Leicester winger’s (who was strongly linked with Brighton previously) future needed soon.

As things stand Blackburn will lose Marshall on a free transfer in the summer if a new deal isn’t agreed so if he’s not willing to commit to Rovers a decision it likely to be made in January to sell him rather than lose him on a free?

Coyle’s said ahead of the weekend match a ‘definitive’ answer is something he feels is needed, whatever the decision.

‘I think we have to sit down and get a definitive (answer) from Ben’s representatives. Is it a no, a yes, more negotiations? But we certainly need an answer one way or another.’

With him adding he’s expecting this to come in November when the next international break arrives. Not that he can question his performances for Blackburn this season with them still to a ‘very high’ level.

‘To be fair to the kid, he’s continued to play at a very high level. When we get to that international break we certainly need to have a clear picture of exactly where we are with it.’
